Goldmine & Coco is a planning and stationary company featuring hand-drawn images of everyday
African American women. G&C was built on the idea that you can leap into excellence with
stationary that truly reflects who you are and inspires you to take action daily.
When Goldmine & Coco (G&C) approached us they were amid a rebrand. The planning community was experiencing climate change due to a sizable controversial issue with a tremendous competitor Goldmine and Coco wanted to get their affairs in order for customers looking to jump ship and find a new company to support.
The company was new to SEO and had not invested in any strategy, relying entirely on social media and email marketing. They wanted to be visible to people googling planners and planner accessories every day and not just rely on Instagram and Facebook.
They were not attracting new customers consistently. The focus: Shift from only making sales at the beginning of the month when new products released to making sales every single day.
There was no dedicated content plan to position them as a leader in the industry or attract new clients interested in planning and stationary but never heard of Goldmine & Coco.
Competitor Analysis, Keyword
Research & Content Planning
Since one of the top goals of G&C was to try and capture market share within the planning
industry, we started with competitor analysis and keyword research, Overall, we wanted to see
what drove traffic to the top competitors in this space and how we could use that to our advantage.
After researching G&C's top four competitors, pulling low difficulty keywords that drove traffic
for their websites, and determining the search intent behind those words we settled on a list of
keywords that were currently non-existent on the website.
WE SPENT SIX MONTHS PRODUCING SEVEN LONG-FORM AND COMPETITIVE BLOG POSTS THAT WOULD COMPETE WITH THE TOP RESULTS ON THE FIRST PAGE OF GOOGLE.
Since Google Analytics was not installed prior to our work together we are unable to compare
year over year. However, the below details results over a 6 month period.

xoNecole is a lifestyle and empowerment platform that caters to over 2 million women on the glow up. They are committed to elevating black women through our relationship, beauty, career, and wellness content.
Their mission is to promote positive images of women of color as well as empower, educate, and inspire millennials through our interviews, beauty, fashion, lifestyle, career and travel features.
xoNecole contacted us to determine how they could best improve their SEO after receiving an audit from another agency. While their content received tons of traffic from social media, SEO was a weak spot for them and an overall strategy was needed to diversify their traffic sources.
There was no standard process for optimizing content for search engines and on-page SEO best practices needed improvement. As a result, there was no keyword research strategy for content.
Competitor Analysis was needed for xoNecole to effectively compete with other websites that published similar content but received a lot more organic traffic.
Technical SEO issues such as broken links and HTTP/HTTPS mixed content existed which needed evaluation and clean up.

Lastly, a full technical SEO audit was completed to ensure the website was free of any toxic backlinks, on page SEO best practices were followed and Google Search Console issues resolved.
We focused on four main areas for xoNecole's SEO strategy. Since creating content was not an issue due to the vast contributor staff, we placed emphasis on providing SEO training and best practices which resulted in content improvement for past and future articles published on the website.
Keyword research and competitor analysis became a top priority. xoNecole is a popular website with a strong domain authority; however, they needed to focus on more competitive keywords with higher search volumes that would drive just as must traffic as their competitors.
Keyword research training allowed the Managing Editor to align topic assignments to what readers are actively searching for online. In addition, understanding Google search intent, helped angle articles to make sure certain topics are covered.
Competitor analysis identified opportunities for xoNecole to implement content on the site and drive additional traffic.
We trained the xoNecole team on keyword research, how to identify valuable keywords, Google search intent, and how to understand SEO keyword metrics.
Our work with xoNecole started in September 2020 and has continued to improve since. xoNecole's organic traffic is the highest as of May 2021 since 2018 and the website has the highest number of organic keywords since inception.
